The Best Album of ‘08

Unlike people in the film industry who claim that the first film out in the new year is the best film of the year, I like to wait until I’ve heard the best of what a year has to offer before I share what I feel the best album of the past year has been.

There are only two real candidates in my mind, and they are:
The Subways – All or Nothing
Foals – Antidotes

According to Metacritic Antidotes made it to Number 5 in Filter and NME and All or Nothing doesn’t even get a mention. So, according to the public of the two, the better is clearly Antidotes.
I would be inclined to agree, but All or Nothing takes it for me. It has a wider range of styles and is what comes close to my perfect album.
